General precautions and maintenance tips

  • Dirt and Grit can lend itself to the scratching of the timber floor. Regularly sweep or vacuum high traffic areas, small rugs and hall runners are also a useful preventative measure. Dirt trapping mats used at all entrance doors will also aid in keeping the dirt off the timber floor.
  • Protective pads on the bottom of all furniture legs will help reduce the risk of scuffing or scratching the floor when moved. Protective mats will also help protect timber floors against furniture with castors (for example office chairs).
  • All timber floors come at a standard moisture content, in areas of extreme temperature and moisture changes it is recommended to maintain an ambient temperature where possible.
  • As Hardwood timber flooring is a natural product, it will fade, darken or change shade over time. Direct exposure to sunlight will speed up this process. The use of rugs, curtains or blinds can help protect the timber floor.

  • To keep the hardwood floor looking better for a longer time, it needs to be kept as clean as possible. Regular vacuuming with a soft bristle head of electrostatic attachment with help remove surface dirt and grit.
  • For stubborn dirt, damp-mop the floor using a well rung mop. Only use cleaning products that are recommended by the manufacturer’s specifications.
  • Cleaning the floor with common house hold products can affect the floor in many ways, some causing scratches in the surface and other making the floor dangerously slippery. Some products can leave a film of silicon or wax with will hamper recoating of the floor. Never use Methylated Spirits or Kerosene as any type of petroleum distillate will degrade the coating and irreversibly dull the floor. Only use PH natural and recommended cleaning products.
  • Only use quality lint free floor mops
